Digital Life Expo 2006

If you’re into gadgets, games, tech and entertainment this expo is for you. I’ve been covering this event since the first one in 2004. I’ll be posting reviews from the things I found on the Champion Eye Media site when it’s released (within the month.) It’s got something for everybody. Celebrity appearances, the latest in cell phones, portable devices a lot of free giveaways and chances to win money and prizes.

By celebrities I don’t just mean Darth Vader and the troopers.

Not talking about PacMan either.

RedMan and Carmen Electra were there to name a couple from last year. Check the gallery and you may find the photos that weren’t licensed out.

There was a dance contest, gaming competition…

Even a free TiVo box with every sign up. The line was all over the place for those who got there late.

It’s definitely worth the price of a movie ticket for the three days.

Who am I? Good question. I've spent a lot of time figuring that out. I've come to realize that I don't fit standard classifications.

Over the years my opinions have shifted and my points of view have fluctuated. I've learned to adapt per situation and adjust per person, within reason. I have witnessed things that have altered my perspectives. I've grown into both a simple and complexed person, depending on your point of view. I've had little choice but to live up to my name.

This photoBlog will act as my way of showing the world through my eyes. Hopefully my somewhat abstract experiences will benifit or at least entertain a few. A tour through the the state of my mind.

Comment System – You can use a simple * to mark the ones you like. Request any minor adjustments if needed or describe how you feel. Be clear and detailed when requesting edits.
Online Portfolio use – Use a simple "OMP," "MC," "MM," or "online" comment for marking those you want for online use. If it's for your site let me know that as well so we can work out image tags accordingly. For TFP shoots a part of the agreement is that any images used online are marked unless otherwise stated in writing. Request larger or smaller size adjustments if needed. Remember, digital proofs are usually minimally edited or unedited.
Timeline – The sooner you review all photos and contact me the better. Turn around time is usually under 2 weeks after you make selections..
Hotlinking – Absolutely NO linking is allowed. Any gallery linked to will removed.

"Everyone deserves the same level of quality and respect."

My Views: "Anyone can take a picture, an artist captures the moment." This means waiting for the right moment and searching for different perspectives. A picture says something for the subject and the photographer so both should be represented well. A few should know, I don't have an "it's all about the money" mentality so I won't say yes to everything.

Many would call me a "minimalist" photographer. I prefer using natural or available light with minor adjustments and a hot shoed fill flash. My preferred style are candid's, casual and artistic shots. My style is to talk and be natural while capturing the mood and expression of each moment. Regardless of my preferences I am not unwilling to adjust accordingly per request.

Whether you just want some quality photos taken, need promotional shots or need to build your portfolio a package can made to fit your needs. I'm very interested in working with non-profit organizations and those who are doing positive projects. If you're aiming to change your image maybe I can assist.

Who am I?

My name really is Champion. No it’s not a title or a nickname, it’s the translation of my legal first name. It’s been said that I live up to it but I just do what makes sense. When ever I can, I send a message using my photos.

I’m an NYC based freelance digital photographer and photojournalist. My preference is to aim for beautiful instead of sexy, it’s all about respect. Believe it or not, I also prefer to do shoots with everyday people more so than model work. Not your average photographer.

After years of working behind the scenes, I’ve also releasing Champion Eye Media to the public. The focus will span many things including reviews, interviews and news from another perspective. For now go there if you’re looking for photos from an event It won’t be fully released till everything is set in place.

Projects

A few are in planning stages so check back for updates. These projects are currently NOT paid work. The point is to produce a few interesting and mutually beneficial photos. While the descriptions are very general I am looking for particular things in who I capture. Done on a TFP or post-pay basis (pay when/if a photo is sold) unless otherwise agreed. The photos will be used for display, a stock library and various projects in multiple mediums.

Shoot Themes

Beautiful Features – "In Focus "

Focusing on features that stand out to me. Including eyes, smiles, dimples, torsos, "back dimples," and different aspects of the body. There is no one kind of beauty so various styles will be captured of each.

Caught in the Moment – "Reality at its best"

Capturing groups of friends and/or family, couples and individuals in casual moments of day to day life. Also showing models and talent at their natural.

Contrast – "Points of view"

Shots showing the contrast in how clothes and presentation effect how a woman is perceived. Business to casual, revealing to reserved, etc. Specifically showing how one person can be shown differently.

Cultural Blend – "Faces of the world"

Taking a tour of the world through faces. Those who are of mixed cultures especially. I'd like to capture the most interesting and unexpected cultural mixes.

Dangerous Curves – "The art of presentation"

Featuring women with defined shapes, exaggerated curves and those who break the stereotypes of their particular heritage or body style.

Emotional Journey – "The power of suggestion"

Taking a visual trip through different emotions and telling a stories through photos. Mainly head shots, half shots and close ups exploring the power of facial expressions and body language.

Picture Poetry – "Expressive posing"

Series photos to the theme of various written works of my own or the person posing.

Shadow Play – "A tour of light & perspective"

Focusing on lighting, shadows, perspectives and moods. Shot in various lighting conditions that create strong shadows including tunnels and underpasses.

The Next Level Beauty Project
"Taking beauty back to the next level"

You don't have to be a "model" to represent a beautiful woman. If you want to model this is a positive way to start.
If you need positive exposure this is it.

THE CONCEPT: Presenting mind and body as one and showing that you don't have to show skin to get somewhere. Usually the only time you see an attractive woman in the media the focus is only on the physical, especially ethnic women. Women with great bodies are usually shown in explicit or sexual ways, especially on the web. Rarely is it artistically or with any real respect. One goal is to create a venue where attractive women can be presented without being forced into the "skin" route. Another goal is to explore and discuss what's already out there using both mental and visual means. It's all about sending a message.

CURRENT NEEDS: Natural beauties, models, writers, digital design artists and upcoming talent of various cultures, mind sets, shapes and sizes. If you're small with a defined curve this includes you. Race doesn't matter and if you help break a cultural physical stereotype (Asian, Caucasian, Native American, etc.) that's even better. If you aren't looking to model you'll get high quality photos of yourself, the chance to let your thoughts be known and be a part of something positive. If you're available in the NYC Area that's a plus since that's where I'm located. Photographers interested in being a part of something positive may also contact me. The views of men who share this vision are very needed.
